MARY L. PYANOWSKI

Mary was trained in Berlin, Germany. In 1980 she broadened her experience
by building wigs for film and television with Ziggy Geike in Los Angeles, before returning to St. Gallen,
Switzerland as Assistant Head of Department for Hair and Make-up. Upon return to the USA,
Mary spent the next six years assisting the Hair and Make-up department of the Seattle Opera.

It was during this time that she began work for the 5th Avenue Theatre, acted as representative designer
for Tom Watson at the Tulsa Opera, Minnesota Opera, Opera Omaha, Philadelphia Opera,
Opera Theatre of St. Louis and assisted in the Hair Dept. on Northern Exposure. She had the honor
of touring with the Royal National Theatre of Great Britain's successful American tour of
Madness of George the III as well as designing the revival production of Sayonara for Theatre
Under the Stars and the 5th Avenue Theatre. The production subsequently opened the
remodeled Alex Theater in Glendale, CA. and was reproduced in Kansas City.

She continues to work extensively in the film and television industries acting as Key Hairstylist on productions
of Mr. Holland's Opus, Prefontaine, Stephen King's mini-series Rose Red and its prequel Diary of Ellen Rimbauer
to name but a few. Two years ago, with the world premiere of Hairspray, Mary fulfilled a long time dream
of working with Paul Huntley. Most recently, in her 16th season as Head of Department
for Hair and Make-up at the 5th Avenue Theatre, Mary designed David Armstrong's production of
Yankee Doodle Dandy and the Theatre's 16th season's productions of Singin' In the Rain,
Miss Saigon and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Under the Hat is Mary's film, television and
theatrical wig-making business, benefiting from her more than
25 years experience in the industry.
